Contests

The MyCoders' contests create an environment that highlights buyers' exceptional project ideas, their versatility in using freelance workers, and their proficiency in managing projects. Leading buyers are recognized for their superiority in the marketplace and held up as examples for others to learn from and emulate.

Buyers

Why do we rank buyers?

At MyCoders, we value our buyers and understand that their vision and forward—thinking set them apart and enable them to take full advantage of the changing global economy. We also appreciate the relationships that are created between them and the coders on our site. Unlike any other services auction sites, MyCoders recognizes buyers and rewards their expertise in designing and directing world-class projects and their ability to expertly manage projects. We believe that, as buyers are ranked and acknowledged, these leaders will attract others like them and they, themselves, will continue to produce leading edge projects. By highlighting advancements, focusing on the leaders, and charting their accomplishments and successes, MyCoders realizes that the effect will be felt industry-wide as buyers continue to outsource cutting-edge projects that are even larger and more highly advanced.

What contests are there for buyers?

When projects are completed, buyers are evaluated and ranked and the results are tabulated to continually track the leaders, those who rank best overall. Every month, one Buyer is identified and singled out, and is given the eminent title of Buyer of the Month; and a new Buyer, one who has been with MyCoders for less than a year is named Rookie of the Month. As more projects are completed and coders continue to provide rankings and evaluations of the buyers, scores are compiled and charted until, at the end of the year, are overall winners are determined and are awarded the enviable titles of Buyer of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

How are projects scored?

When each project is finished, the Coder completing the project evaluates the Buyer and assigns a rating (between 1 and 10) based on certain criteria. The Buyer's current rating is the average of all the ratings he or she has received.

In addition, for each project, the Buyer receives a score calculated by the MyCoders' system formula, which takes into account the rating the Buyer got from the Coder as well as the project size and other factors. The current score for each Buyer is the sum of all the scores he or she has received.

Buyers are positioned in ranking charts sorted by their scores. Overall ranking is determined by the Buyer's current score and position on the chart. Various charts show different rankings. For example, the May 2004 Buyers' chart, shows rankings based only on scores that buyers received during May. However, for the General 2004 Buyers' chart, all scores the Buyer received during 2004 are considered.

What do buyers have to do to enter the competition?

All a Buyer needs to do to enter the competition is to register with MyCoders and post a job for Coders to complete. As projects are completed, the Coder also completes an evaluation and ranks the Buyer on certain criteria. The scores are automatically compiled in our database and MyCoders automatically tabulates these scores to determine the monthly winners and the overall yearly best. Note: While most buyers enjoy this opportunity to share their expertise and appreciate being recognized for their excellence, some buyers—because of personal reasons or due to constraints at their company—choose to opt out of the competition. In these cases, scores are hidden and are not tabulated with the others.
